Gentlemen,

Public Works Department,

Hongkong, 19th September, 1906.

Kowloon Farm Lots 3 and 4.

With reference to previous correspondence on the above subject and my letter of the 20th June last, I have now to inform you that, in consequence of a modification which has been made in the proposed route of the railway, it is found unnecessary to resume any portion of Kowloon Farm Lot 3 and the portion of Farm Lot 4 required is greatly reduced in area.

I enclose a tracing showing the land now required by Government, tinted pink and am directed to make your client the following offer :-

(a). Compensation to be paid at the rate of 3c. per square foot for the area resumed. The total amount will be $2,770.42.

(b). A sum of $3,000 to be paid for the removal of the house marked A to another site.

(c). A sum of $298.70 to be paid in respect of the fruit trees, bamboo hedge, &c. falling within the resumed area.

(d). The Crown rent of the lot to be reduced 'pro rata' with the reduction in area of the lot.

I shall be glad to receive an early reply from you in this matter.

I have the honour to be,

Gentlemen,

Your obedient Servant,

W. CHATHAM,

Director of Public Works

Messrs. DENISON RAM & GIBBS.

N°10

No. 1461.

Gentlemen,

Public Works Department,

Hongkong, 5th October, 1906.

"Kowloon Farm Lot No. 4."

Adverting to my letter No. 1360 dated the 19th ultimo, I beg to remind you that no reply has yet been received thereto. I shall be glad to receive an early response.

*This modification appears to have been made to avoid the Hongkong Hotel Co's land and the necessity of paying the compensation demanded, viz: the cost of the land plus the sum of 10% for forced resumption.
